Sesko joins Man

Manchester United have officially completed the high-profile signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in a transfer valued at £73.7 million. The agreement for the 22-year-old Slovenia international includes a guaranteed payment of £66.3 million, with the remaining sum coming through performance-based add-ons.

The contract sees Sesko commit to five years at Old Trafford, marking him as the club’s third major attacking acquisition of the transfer window. He follows the arrivals of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for £65 million plus £6 million in potential add-ons. All three new signings were officially presented to fans ahead of United’s pre-season home match against Fiorentina on Saturday.

Competition for Sesko’s Signature

Sesko was also a transfer target for Newcastle United, who finished fifth in last season’s Premier League and qualified for the Champions League, winning the EFL Cup along the way. However, the striker chose to join Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United, despite the Red Devils ending last season in 15th place in the league table.

Sesko’s First Words as a United Player

Speaking about his decision, Sesko said:

“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future. When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.

From the moment that I arrived, I could feel the positive energy and family environment that the club has created. It is clearly the perfect place to reach my maximum level and fulfil all of my ambitions. I cannot wait to start learning from Ruben and connecting with my team-mates to achieve the success that we all know we are capable of together.”

Amorim on Why Sesko Fits the Plan

United head coach Ruben Amorim also spoke to MUTV about the signing, explaining:

“He has the characteristics that we needed. Ben is a player that, with all the information that we have, we need to stop the guy from working — it is not the opposite! That is also important.”

The signing of Benjamin Sesko is seen as a major statement of intent from Manchester United’s new project under Amorim, as the club looks to rebuild and return to competing for the Premier League title and European honors.
