Heavy Rainfall, Flash Floods Likely Across Pakistan in Next 24 Hours, NDMA

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released an official weather warning, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall in multiple parts of Pakistan over the next 24 hours.

High Risk of Flooding in Major Cities

According to the advisory, the active monsoon system may trigger flash floods, urban flooding, and even landslides in vulnerable areas.

Major urban centers such as Islamabad and Rawalpindi, along with northeastern Punjab districts including Lahore, Sialkot, and Attock, face a heightened risk of urban flooding due to persistent heavy rains.

Alerts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts like Swat, Buner, and Mansehra have been placed on alert for potential flash floods and landslides. Similarly, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), regions such as Muzaffarabad and Mirpur could also experience dangerous weather conditions in the coming hours.

Rainfall in Sindh and Balochistan

Sindh’s coastal belt, including Karachi, Thatta, and Badin, is expected to witness intermittent showers, while central and upper Sindh may receive scattered heavy rainfall.

In Balochistan, especially eastern parts such as Lasbela, Gwadar, and Khuzdar, strong monsoon activity is also anticipated.

Precautionary Measures and Relief Operations

Authorities have advised citizens to stay alert, safeguard their lives and property, and take all necessary safety measures. Local administrations have been directed to stay prepared for rescue and relief operations in case of emergencies.

The NDMA has assured that relief and rehabilitation efforts are being closely supervised and coordinated. The public has been urged to avoid unnecessary travel to flood-prone areas, keep emergency supplies ready, and follow official weather updates for safety.
