SUPARCO has officially announced that Pakistan’s new remote sensing satellite is now fully operational.
The satellite was successfully launched on July 31, 2025, from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Center. Since then, it has smoothly positioned itself into orbit and established stable communication with ground stations in Pakistan.
Advanced Technology and Capabilities
Equipped with high-resolution cameras and modern imaging systems, the satellite will generate critical data and images to support a wide range of national projects.
One of its primary uses will be in disaster management. During natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and landslides, the satellite will provide real-time updates, allowing authorities to respond swiftly and effectively.
Environmental and Climate Monitoring
The satellite is also expected to significantly improve environmental monitoring by tracking glacier melting, deforestation, and the broader effects of climate change on Pakistan’s ecosystem.
Support for Agriculture and Food Security
In the agriculture sector, this new technology will help with accurate crop monitoring and analysis. By providing reliable information, farmers and policymakers can make better decisions, improving productivity, planning, and overall food security.
Boost to Urban Development and CPEC Projects
Additionally, the satellite will support urban development and infrastructure planning through detailed mapping and monitoring. Closely aligned with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, it will contribute to transport mapping, geo-hazard detection, and the efficient use of natural resources.
A Major Step Towards Technological Independence
Experts regard this successful mission as a milestone for Pakistan’s space program, strengthening its move toward technological independence and sustainable growth. They emphasize that the satellite will improve decision-making, enhance long-term planning, and boost the country’s socio-economic progress.
This achievement marks a proud moment for Pakistan, showcasing its advancing capability in space technology and its growing commitment to future development.
