Heavy rains once again disrupted life in the city, with several low-lying areas submerged and traffic brought to a complete standstill. The downpour also forced many businesses to close, adding to the difficulties faced by residents.
Army Steps In to Assist City Administration
Among the worst-hit areas was the Ghareebabad Underpass, where water levels rose sharply. To address the situation, the Pakistan Army stepped in to assist local authorities. An engineering team from Corps V was deployed with heavy pumping machines and boats to remove the accumulated water.
Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Subhan confirmed that the district administration, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, and the Pakistan Army were working in close coordination to clear the flooded spots. He assured citizens that their combined efforts would help restore normalcy in District Central by evening.
Citizens Appreciate Joint Efforts
Residents of the affected neighborhoods welcomed the timely action, saying the teamwork between civil authorities and the Army boosted their confidence during this challenging time. Many expressed relief at the swift response and hoped daily life in Karachi would return to normal soon.
Importance of Coordination During Emergencies
The incident once again highlights the need for strong coordination between government departments, city services, and the armed forces when dealing with emergencies caused by extreme weather events. Experts stress that such cooperation is vital for protecting citizens and restoring order in times of crisis.
