The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced an extension of electricity bill payment deadlines to provide relief to consumers affected by heavy rains and flood-like conditions in various parts of Punjab.

Deadline Extensions in Two Phases

According to company officials, the extension policy will be applied in batches to ensure that customers in the hardest-hit areas are prioritized. Under LESCO rules, each consumer is entitled to up to two extensions on their bill due date:

  • First Extension: Bill payment deadlines will be extended until September 25.

  • Second Extension: For those still unable to pay, a further extension will be available until September 29.

Late Payment Surcharges

While the extension provides breathing space, customers should be mindful of late payment charges that will apply beyond the new deadlines:

  • 5% surcharge will be added if payment is not made by the first extended deadline (September 25).

  • 10% surcharge will apply on payments made after September 29.

This penalty structure applies uniformly across residential, commercial, and agricultural users.

Tube-Well Connections Also Covered

In addition to regular consumers, the revised policy extends to tube-well connections, ensuring that farmers and agricultural users also benefit from the relief package.

Supporting Consumers Through Adverse Weather

LESCO officials stated that the move aims to support consumers facing both financial constraints and logistical hurdles caused by recent extreme weather. By extending deadlines, the company hopes to reduce the pressure on households and businesses while encouraging timely payments within the revised timeframe.
