myco, a rapidly expanding video streaming platform from Pakistan, has gained global recognition after winning the grand finale of Meet the Drapers, a prestigious startup competition in Silicon Valley. The event featured over 2,000 startups worldwide.
After the finale, myco successfully completed the due diligence process and secured a combined investment and software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreement worth Rs42 crore (approximately $1.5 million) — the largest amount awarded in the ninth season of the show.
This is the first time a startup from Pakistan has reached the finale of Meet the Drapers and emerged as one of the winners, boosting visibility for the country’s startup ecosystem.
The achievement was confirmed this week when Tim Draper signed a SaaS service contract worth $1 million with myco, in addition to a prior $500,000 investment. This makes myco the top startup from the Season 9 finale in terms of total deal value.
Paklaunch’s Role in Bringing Pakistan to the Global Stage
The journey began with Paklaunch founder Aly Fahd, who convinced Tim Draper to dedicate an episode to Pakistani startups in October 2024. It was the first time the country was featured on the show. Two Pakistani startups reached the semi-finals, with myco advancing to the grand finale after receiving the highest global audience votes.
The finale was filmed in California in April 2025, and following a thorough review, myco secured both the investment and the SaaS deal by July.
Endorsement from Silicon Valley
Tim Draper, a renowned venture capitalist known for early investments in Tesla, SpaceX, Skype, Coinbase and Baidu, has long supported disruptive innovations in fintech, blockchain, and decentralised platforms. His latest backing of myco marks a strong endorsement of Pakistan’s growing influence in global digital media innovation.
Aly Fahd commented:
“This proves the quality of Pakistani entrepreneurs on a global stage, and Paklaunch is proud to have played a role in this achievement.”
During myco’s pitch, Draper said:
“Myco blends powerful storytelling, sports culture, and Web3 economics — this is the future of streaming.”
Expanding Beyond Cricket
While myco holds streaming rights for ICC tournaments, the Pakistan Super League, and the Pakistan Cricket Board, it also covers other sports, including:
- English Premier League (three-year rights)
- MMA and Karate Combat
- Padel, squash, volleyball
- Local and university-level tournaments
This positions myco as a comprehensive sports and entertainment platform, not just a cricket broadcaster.
