Zimbabwe have booked their tickets to the T20 cricket showcase once more, brushing aside Kenya by seven wickets in the semi-final of the Africa Qualifier to become the latest side to qualify for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Set a target of 123 for victory, Zimbabwe’s top order wasted no time as Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani tore into the Kenyan attack. The pair blasted 70 runs in the powerplay, effectively ending the contest within the first six overs.
Bennett was the star of the show once again, smashing 51 off just 25 balls with eight fours and a six.
Though both openers and captain Sikandar Raza fell before the finish line, Ryan Burl and Tony Munyonga calmly guided Zimbabwe home in the 15th over, underlining their dominance. With the victory, Zimbabwe joined Namibia, who had qualified earlier in the day by defeating Tanzania, and South Africa as Africa’s representatives for next year’s tournament. This also means 17 of the 20 teams have now been confirmed, with only three more to come from the Asian qualifiers
