Authorities in Murree have announced the enforcement of Section 144 for three consecutive days — August 12, 13, and 14, 2025 — as part of heightened security measures for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the decision aims to maintain law and order and ensure public safety amid the anticipated large gatherings in the hill station. Under the order, entry to Mall Road and GPO Chowk will be restricted exclusively to families during the specified dates.
The move follows recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee, which met on July 30 to assess security risks. Officials expressed concerns over potential overcrowding and disturbances during the national holiday events, prompting the precautionary action.
Authorities have made it clear that violations of Section 144 will result in legal proceedings under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which carries penalties for disobeying lawful orders.
Security forces will be deployed across key areas in Murree to monitor compliance, regulate crowd movement, and ensure that Independence Day activities proceed in a safe and orderly manner.
