The Punjab Environment Department has reported a 70 percent reduction in air pollution in Kahna following the use of anti-smog guns, marking a breakthrough in the fight against hazardous air quality in the city.
The department shared the results on Saturday, revealing that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Kahna fell dramatically from 666 to 170 after the equipment was deployed. Officials said a modern scientific monitoring system was used to measure and verify the impact.
This was the first formal trial of smog guns in the area, and officials described the improvement in air quality as immediate and significant. Within minutes of operation, visible reductions in airborne pollutants were observed.
The initiative is part of a broader environmental protection campaign under the supervision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Environmental Protection Force. Government officials praised the team behind the effort, calling the results a step forward in controlling seasonal smog and ensuring public health.
The department said it will continue using smog guns in other high-risk zones as part of its anti-smog strategy.
