The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has officially revoked the provisional No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted to Bahria Town Karachi (BTK) for sale and advertisement. The NOC had originally been issued on September 19, 2022.

Reason Behind Cancellation

According to an official notification, the move follows adverse orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in CMA 8758/2018, dated November 23, 2023. The cancellation also stems from BTK’s failure to submit valid land titles and its default on installment payments of Rs. 460 billion, which were due by August 31, 2026.

The notification further noted that these defaults and legal violations endanger the security of nearly 16,896 acres of land, undermining the very foundation on which the earlier provisional NOC had been issued.

Invoking its authority under Section 4 of the Sindh Building Control Ordinance (SBCO) 1979, the SBCA declared that continuing the NOC would not only mislead the public but also legitimize illegality.

The authority stated that during its 20th meeting on September 3, 2025, it resolved to withdraw the provisional certificate with immediate effect.

Warning Against Transactions

In its directive, SBCA warned:

“You are therefore directed to refrain from carrying out any sale, purchase, booking, or advertisement of the plots/built units in BTK.”

Protection for Existing Allottees

While cancelling the NOC, SBCA assured that the rights of current allottees will be safeguarded in line with the Supreme Court’s instructions.
