UK Announces £1.33 Million Aid For Flood-Hit Pakistan

The United Kingdom has pledged £1.33 million in humanitarian aid to assist Pakistan in coping with the devastation caused by recent floods. The announcement comes as thousands of families across the country continue to struggle with displacement, loss of livelihoods, and damaged infrastructure due to heavy monsoon rains.

According to details, the relief support will directly benefit over 223,000 people in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan — three regions severely impacted by flash floods and waterlogging.

Relief Activities Under the Package

The aid will focus on meeting both immediate needs and long-term resilience building. Key activities include:

• Food distribution for households that have lost sources of income.
• Search and rescue operations to evacuate stranded individuals from high-risk flood zones.
• Establishment of mobile medical camps to provide healthcare services in disaster-hit areas.
• Repair and rehabilitation of damaged water supply systems, ensuring communities regain access to clean and safe drinking water.

Focus on Disaster Preparedness

A significant portion of the UK’s contribution is aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s capacity to respond to future climate-driven disasters. Around 2,400 community volunteers will be trained in disaster preparedness and emergency response. These trained individuals will act as first responders during crises, ensuring faster and more efficient relief efforts.

Additionally, a preparedness dashboard will be developed to monitor risks, assess vulnerabilities, and streamline rapid response mechanisms in future emergencies.
